At the end of March of this year qualification improvement course “Use of instructional videos in personnel training for group work" organized by the Latvian Prison Administration Training Centre took place at the Olaine Prison Addiction Centre. The training took place within the framework of the Norway grants Correctional Services Program and aimed at the use and integration of a new approach (instructional video) in the educational process, as well as the acquisition of knowledge and practical pedagogical methods in group work and group management.

The skills acquired in this training will help correctional staff to apply new working methods through the e-learning platform and face-to-face training.

The training was led by experts from the Norwegian correctional services and was attended by 12 specialists from the Latvian correctional services. The main topics of the training were dynamic security, effective administration and change management.

At the end of the training program, Ole Stageberg, Professor at the Norwegian Academy of Correctional Services, expressed his satisfaction not only with the successful implementation of the qualification improvement training activities, but also with the interest, involvement and desire of the training participants to improve the work and training environment in Latvian prisons.
