On 24-25 April 2023, representatives of the Norwegian Red Cross and the Directorate of Norwegian Correctional Service visited Latvia in order to meet representatives of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Latvia, the Latvian Red Cross, Latvian Prison Administration and the State Probation Service, and discuss the promotion of mutual collaboration.
On the first day of the visit, participants met at the Ministry of Justice, where the working group discussed the involvement of NGOs in the resocialization process of prisoners and the possible form of cooperation within the framework of the NFI project "Establishment of Training centre infrastructure and model prison blocks for training opportunities in the Olaine prison territory".
The delegation went to Daugavpils during the visit, where representatives visited Griva section of Daugavgriva Prison and met the Latvian Red Cross volunteers.
The visit was organized in the framework of the Norwegian financial instrument project “Establishment of Training centre infrastructure and model prison block for training opportunities in the Olaine prison territory” implemented by the Latvian Prison Administration.
